1 ~ The Witness
The Witness observes without engaging in any action. By cultivating inner stillness, we are able to assess any situation from a higher perspective and make better decisions. When we can be present for someone else’s difficulties with stillness, then we are able to truly hear them and give better advice. Sometimes we can be so still that we are a mirror for the other. Then, through our presence, they receive their own answers.
The Witness that has been by your side all along is now ready to become your ally. You thought you were the doer, but today you discover that things happen when you get out of the way. Witness creation unfolding before you. Change reality by finding stillness and letting your true intent reveal itself.
2 ~ The Drum
The rhythm of the drum tunes you to the beating heart of the universe. It’s wood frame links you to the trees and helps you journey to the lower world via the roots and the upper world through its branches. The drumskin gives the shaman the power to the animal kingdom. Striking the drum calls forth the power of the thunder and the rumbling of the earthquake. The drum invites a trance state where healing and prophecy happen.
You travel to the beat of a different drum. It’s time to acknowledge you do not fit a mold or role or relationship that is not in tune with you. Find your rhythm; respond to the heartbeat of the distant drum. The price you pay for lingering becomes higher with each passing day. Now is the time to move on.
3 ~ Taming the Wind
Here the feather, a symbol that is used in clearing ceremonies, for smudging, reminds you of a scared commitment you make to you life. This is the symbol of consciously bringing the spiritual into the material, infusing the world with reverence and an acknowledgement of the higher planes of existence that influence and animate all life. The feather is a symbolic reminder of deliberately entering to a partnership with the Great Spirit to co-create for the highest good of all.
It’s time to clear your energy, be present, and become conscious of how you communicate. This is a good time to write in a journal and put your thoughts into a cohesive form. Perhaps you need to actually do a smudging ceremony in your home or office, creating a sacred space to write about your dreams and desires. Just remember that when Taming the Wind appears as a symbol, it is time to honor the Great Spirit with reverence and respect.
4 ~ The Staff
The Staff is a symbol of authority. It holds the power to temper extremes. The staff helps you find the right course of action, the “way of the middle,” and aides you to maintain your balance after you begin walking in that direction. The staff reminds you of the impermanence of all things, and that your authority must come from your deep longing to serve.
You know how to flow easily between polarities, how to weigh all possibilities and instinctively select the right path. Trust your inner wisdom and take the first step on a journey that your heart has already embarked on. Use the power of the staff to unite what appears to be divided, to find that delicate balance between will and surrender.
5 ~ The Corn
Corn represents the mother of sustenance and tangible abundance. This symbol represents material prosperity in the world of form that provides stability and sustenance to many. There is more than enough.
Beware of shortcuts on your dreams or a fast track being offered to you now. Be especially mindful of feelings of entitlement or an expectation to get something for nothing. This is a time for gratitude, perseverance, and humility. Be prepared to work toward your goals, and plant the seeds of your intentions consciously and respectfully. Release any insecure thoughts of scarcity, feeling that there is not enough, or worry that someone else can take what is yours. Know that the universe will always provide, but you must be in a relationship with it in order to receive. You will reap what you sow. Take heart; even if you didn’t plant well and have conjured up the illusion of drought, there is always a new season to begin again.
6 ~ The Moon
Every 28 days, the moon manifests a steady progression from darkness to light, and then back again. This phenomenon in our skies has a powerful impact on our human psyches. It offers us the certainty that after periods of emptiness and darkness, there is light waiting so we can be reborn into a new phase. The moon also has strong influence on the ebb and flow of wagers on Earth. This same power, in turn, affects human feelings and emotions and mirrors their rising from or hiding back into the unconscious.
The moon spends equal time in the dark as it does in the light of the sun and now it comes to remind you of balance. Have you been too focused on outer achievements, productivity, or social engagements? Or have you spent too much time hidden from the outer world, not wanting to interact or show your face? Meditate on the significance of the moon’s cycle, and let it gently guide you out of your bottomless depths. Head back to the world of outer expression and connection with others. Let it help you make time for yourself, your feelings, and your essential human and spiritual needs.
7 ~ Ancestors ~Generations~
You have within you the blood of your ancestors. You are deeply connected to your linage, the most immediate proof of that being the physical resemblance you have to your mother and father and perhaps even grandparents. Yet beyond that, although unknown to your usual senses , you are connected to an ancestry that reaches back through the millennia. This is the time to call upon those ancestors, those who are of your bloodline as well those ancient ones that have walked the land that you now walk. In many indigenous cultures, it is believed that the essence of your ancestors inhabits many of the physical aspects of the land. In other words, they are in the trees, the water, the air, the animals, the stones— their blood being in the very dirt and sand you tread upon, next time you are outside, allow your senses to open to those ancestors who abide in the physical world. And anytime at all, allow your heart to open to those Spirits to whom you are related though your heredity and to those shine you are connected by virtue of the land upon which you live.
8 ~ Crystals ~Focus~
It is time to bring your complete focus to the subject of your inquiry. Eliminate all distractions, and give this your undivided attention. Whether this is project, relationship, or simply a relaxing time spent walking in Nature, be fully present to the situation. This sharpening of focus will expand your awareness and allow your inner guidance to penetrate your consciousness, which can be parlayed into appropriate action. By being focused with crystal clarity, you are in the flow of your life force and, in fact, have become one with it. It is not a hypervigilant or tension-filled state, but one of relaxed attention. Keep your eyes, ears, and heart focused on that which you need to pay attention, and miracles can be created. To paraphrase a fictional elder, “Use the Force,” and use it in life enhancing ways.
9 ~ Meadow ~Vulnerability~
You are in a place now where you can take risks with your feelings, and even more important, take risks with the truth of who you are – the truth you know in your heart and soul. You no longer need to be subjected to your conditional fears of letting others know who you really are.
Yes, others may judge, evaluate, criticize, and perhaps even put you down. These are very real possibilities. Yet by trusting that you have the strength to deal with these reactions – rather than responding adaptively and always playing it safe – you can more confidently allow yourself to be vulnerable. Always holding back from expressing your truth can create an illusion of safety, but armed with your trust and your faith, you can choose to be vulnerable and share your authentic self with the world.
10 ~ Summer Solstice ~Radiance~
Let the radiance of the sun inspire your inner radiance to shine forth. Release your concerns about what may happen in the future, and focus on appreciating everything you have that is good and right. Allow Father Sun to take away your worries and cares. Do something physically active to stimulate your inner light. Dance. Sing. But most important, get outdoors. Do not let any negative thoughts or habits stop you. When you are in love with Life, you naturally radiate that love. During this part of your cycle, your capacity to love is greatly amplified. In one of those supreme ironies of Life, the more love you give, the more returns to you. It starts by allowing the radiant Being you truly are to be expressed to the world. Smile a little more. Notice the beauty of Nature. See the humor in the paradoxes of Life. Show your love, especially with those with whom you’re the closest. Then smile even more, and watch how the world around you lights up!
11 ~ Fairies ~Earth Magic~
You have the same power available to you as the fairies do. It starts with loving the Earth through tough heartfelt gratitude and appreciation, but more important, through your actions. The fairies can help you reconnect in a more intimate way with the Earth, and all they require is your willingness to pay attention to the trees and plant life around you and demonstrate your care. Whether you live in a small space or have an expanse of land, make it a point to be especially attentive to your surrounding vegetation. Plant something. Get your hands in the dirt and do so with love and enthusiasm. Every flower, tree, or shrub you are attending is a living being, so treat each like you would a dear friend. Ask the fairies to help you take care of these friends, and you will be rewarded many times over.
12 ~ Trust Your Own Understanding
The information you are receiving is reliable and accurate. Look deeply into the situation before making any commitments. You have the foresight and ability to discern that there is more here than meets the eye. Everything will be revealed in the appropriate time. Don’t feel the need to prove yourself. Be patient and allow things to unfold as they will. Trust in your own observations and knowledge- they hold your truth.
13 ~ Make a Wish
As a child, you may have been encouraged to blow on a dandelion and make a wish. As you blew the seed blossoms from the stem, they would be carried on the wind so your your wish could be fulfilled. This card is a gentle reminder to set clear intentions about what you wish for in your life. You’re being asked what you would like. At this moment, anything is possible. If you were given one wish, what would you wish for? Trust that your wish will be granted at the most opportune time and in the manner that supports you in the fullest.
14 ~ Gratitude & Appreciation
Recognize the good qualities in others and openly share your gratitude with them. Write notes of thanks to those who have helped you. If someone deserves acknowledgment, take the time to let a superior or colleague know so that they receive the recognition they deserve. Nature is continuingly sharing its beauty for us to appreciate. Beholding a rainbow is a gift, and when we encounter a rainbow’s beauty, it is the perfect time to be grateful for all the gifts in our lives. It is important to generate the positive flow of thankfulness that can bring joy into someone else’s life. By doing so you will not only decrease your stress you’ll also generate the feeling of goodwill and love in your life.
15 ~ New Experiences and Possibilities
Look around in nature. Notice the new beginnings, new experiences and new choices being shown to you. They will only be evident to you if you take the time to look for those subtle messages. You are on the first steps along a new path. You are being offered a blank page- what are the first words you would like to write on it? Your possibilities are endless. You are in complete control of your life. This is a new beginning on your journey. Live in the present and trust in your abilities. Plant your seeds and willingly venture into new territory.
