1 ~ Holy Mountain

Native people around the Earth recognize mountains as places of great power where one encounters Spirit or where Gods or Goddesses reside. In Ancient Greece, Mount Olympus was the home of the 12 main Gods and Goddesses. In Tibet, pilgrims circumambulate Mount Kailash to bring prosperity. In Peru, pilgrims climb the ice-capped Mount Ausangate to receive the starlit and bring fire to the Earth.

The Holy Mountain invites you to go on a sacred pilgrimage to acquire vision and perspective. First you must accept the present situation as an opportunity to discover higher understanding. Find a sacred altar where other who have came before you have prayers and found wisdom, and make your offering there. Make a commitment to walk with courage, love, and compassion until you see with clarity the passion of it all.

2 ~ The Moon

Every 28 days, the moon manifests a steady progression from darkness to light, and then back again. This phenomenon in our skies has a powerful impact on our human psyches. It offers us the certainty that after periods of emptiness and darkness, there is light waiting so we can be reborn into a new phase. The moon also has strong influence on the ebb and flow of wagers on Earth. This same power, in turn, affects human feelings and emotions and mirrors their rising from or hiding back into the unconscious.

This card calls you to go in a journey of renewal, just like the moon does every month, so you can get unstuck, whether from a specific situation or life in general. For this you need to make time to be with yourself without the distractions of modern society, and have the courage to look at the unwanted or unembraced parts of your being until you arrive at a place of resolution. Shamanic life explains that the finest treasures of humanity are hidden where people are most afraid to go.

3 ~ The Mystical Shaman

This is a symbol of the mythmaker and storyteller who is neither made of or defined by the story. Instead observes it, evolves through it, perceived all aspects of it. I’m doing so, the mystical shaman represents the ability to dream a new story, a new myth, into being. He dances between worlds, wearing the cloak of the world loosely around his shoulders, and sings the world into being. He reminds us to be in the world and travel through it, but not to be defined by it or become too attached to the experience.

This is the symbol of true alchemy, for all elements of life have a spiritual aspect and a material one. When we remember this, all manner of miracles and manifestations are possible.

Be careful what you pray for. The Mystical Shaman cautions you against relentless attachment to a certain form that you think will make you happy, prosperous, famous, etc. However, in seeing your dream come into being, had you considered what you were willing to sacrifice for it? Perhaps you have been telling yourself a certain story for so long— the story that only when you reach this particular goal will you be happy, that you will arrive— you didn’t even notice that you’re no longer the person who wanted those outcomes. You may have moved beyond those stories. Perhaps it is time to admit to yourself that you need to imagine a new story that is more in alignment with who you have become. This is just one moment in millions of moments in the continuum of a life. Let it go. Let it be just a story, and move on. Better tales are waiting to be told.

4 ~ The Child

The Child knows the way to joy and happiness. The child offers the returns of second innocence, a time born of wisdom and not of naïveté. This card allows you to correct your course and offers you a second chance. It brings you the possibility of redemption and entering heaven while on Earth.

The child is here to release you from the habit of being yourself, and to help you acquire a beginner’s mind so that you can see life as if for the first time. Remain open to learning and discovery. Who is looking back at you in the mirror in the morning? Become a mystery unto yourself, reconnect with a sense of childlike wonder.

5 ~ The Smokey Mirror

The Smokey Mirror represents the aspects of what is implied yet cannot be immediately known in the world, the mystery of how things come together and how they fall apart without obvious causality. This symbol also represents the shadow of the human psyche, the parts of the self that one disowns. The Smokey Mirror can also represent a state of denial, or the inability or refusal to see the truth.

When the symbol of the Smokey Mirror appears, you’re invited to see beyond your own self. Acknowledge that, past the limits of your current ability to perceive, there is a vast interconnected world where events are orchestrated in divine order but challenging to fully grasp. Now is the time to trust that no matter what the current conditions of your world reflect, in the Hidden Realms all aspects of the human journey are celebrated: the beauty and the darkness, the misery and the courage. No matter where you are on your journey, know that some things are meant to be a mystery, which you are meant to understand only through experience. Take heart, for the Smokey Mirror will ultimately show you beauty and wonder once the fog lifts the distortion you see now.

6 ~ The Curse

The Curse refers to the limiting stories of our ancestors, and the karma from former lifetimes that preordains the events of our lives. It is the source of negative patterns, and it can show up as a disease, a destructive force, or a blockage on our creative energy. The Curse holds us hostage to a false story that we confuse for reality. Recognizing the original wound that is playing out in our life can heal it.

Be aware of your actions. Act with impeccable intention so not to create debt or karma, that sooner or later, someone has to pay. What you do to others, you also do to yourself and to the people you love the most. Now you have the opportunity to clean it up.

7 ~ Tracker

Focus your intent and your passion on one thing, rather than being scattered in different directions. Be single-minded in what’s truly important in your life, and let everything else go. Track the unseen (but very real) stream of energy to that which you desire.

Trackers have the ability to be so focused that everything but their goal disappears. What you see around you is the result of what you focus on. When you direct your thoughts toward good, you attract positive experiences and people into your life; but when you focus on what isn’t working, you create even more challenging situations. If you aren’t pleased with the direction of your life, concentrate on what you desire— not on what you don’t want. To develop inner power, focus intently on one thing. Being scattered in a myriad of directions dilutes your strength. Devote your attention to your family, community, career, relationships, hobbies, or anything you’re passionate about. Diminish activities that aren’t essential to your goals, and it will be just a matter of time before miracles begin to occur.

Write down how much time, on average, that you spend on different activities during the day. If there is anything nonessential (that doesn’t feed your soul), find ways to diminish it and focus on what’s truly important.

8 ~ Offerings

The Universe is grateful for you! You are a gift to the world. Feel gratitude for everything in your life, even the things that don’t seem perfect. Appreciation for everything flows through you in great bounty. Cherish the preciousness of life and everyone and everything around you, and thus you will be cherished.

Every native culture through out history has made offerings, often on a daily basis. Offerings were made to the sun, the Earth, the plants and animals, and to everything in Creation. The offerings varied culture to culture, but the were always made with a feeling of extreme appreciation for the bounty of life. Gratitude was the secret to a joy-filled life. True thankfulness can work like modern day alchemy in your life, yielding happiness and peace beyond imagination. And it’s simple: Find what’s good and wonderful in every moment. No matter what’s happening around you, there’s always something to be grateful for. Whatever you appreciate in life will grow, so discover what you’re thankful for—even the people and situations you find challenging— and watch miracles unfold.

9 ~ Walking in Beauty

Radiant beauty surrounds you. You’re beautiful, inside and out. No matter what your age, your grace is growing. Being in balance. As you walk in beauty and feel gratitude for it, your life will be filled with immense splendor. Whenever you can, spend time in natural, wild spaces. As you see and hear and feel beauty around you, your own beauty will grow.

In Native American traditions, there’s the concept of walking in beauty. It’s called “hozho naasha” in the Navajo/Dineh tradition, and it means being in balance with a natural way of life. When we are in the “right relationship” with the natural world around us, we are walking in beauty. The more you sense and see beauty around you— in your environment, yourself, and your body— the more it will fill your life, in all forms. Never say anything about yourself or your body that’s negative. Don’t put down yourself or others. Instead, affirm beauty and take time to adorn your body and personal space. Walk in nature and inhale the beauty of every part of our wonderful planet. Cherish yourself and the luminescence within you, and you will glow.

Create outer harmony in your home environment, even in small ways— such as a vase of flowers, scented candle, or clean windows— and your inner grace and radiance will begin to shine even more brightly. Wherever you go, look for beauty in your surroundings, and as a result, the world will become more beautiful.

10 ~ Gathering Your Tribe

You are loved, and you are lovable. You deserve love. Support in all forms is flowing to you. You can relax; there is so much love around you. Communicate from your heart. Share your truth. You are safe. Diminish your time with those who do not empower you or believe in you.

If this card chooses you, this means a sustenance and all forms is flowing into your life. Be willing to ask for what you want in life. This is the time to put your needs before the needs of others. Your tribe is waiting to support and nurture you, as you nurture yourself. Sometimes your friends are more your family than blood relatives. Find your people and cherish them. Your vibe attracts your tribe.

Spend time with friends and family members who see the best in you. (Don’t spend time with dream stompers.) Take classes. Share meals. Take time to find your people. You will live longer and happier.

11 ~ Medicine Woman/Medicine Man

Profound inner and outer healing is occurring. You’re a natural healer. You’re on the mend, and/or a situation is being resolved. Have faith that it’s happening. You are a sacred healer; you are a medicine woman/medicine man of the soul.

Every indigenous culture has a tradition of healers. Depending on the culture, they’re called medicine men, medicine women, shamans, tohungas, kahunas, sangomas, or curanderos, among others. In every tradition they’re the individuals who are able to step between worlds to gain information, wisdom, and healing energies from their spirit allies. When this card chooses you, you’re at the advent of healing emotional, physical, and metal wounds. Additionally, a powerful healing force is activating within you.

Nature is one of our greatest healers, so spend time with the trees, soak up the rays of the sun, and dance in the rain. Everything in nature has the intrinsic ability to restore itself. You’re a part of the natural world, so you have this innate ability. Often healing needs to occur on the inner planes before it can manifest on the outside. To assist this process, focus on what’s great and let go of what isn’t working. Hold a vision of the solution that you desire, be patient, and trust that recovery is occurring in its own time and way.

12 ~ Tsunami – Wake up call

You are getting a wake-up call. It may be in the form of a significant loss or other dramatic event in your life, typically one that you were not prepared for initially. You may feel stunned at first, surprised by the unexpected events that are occurring. Yet you also know that it is time to draw back the curtain of avoidance and denial, and confront the truth the exists in the subtext of the event. You are experiencing a real life drama, so there is no need to amplify it more than it already is. Often when you look back after something like this has passed, you can recall the signs the forshadowed it happening. There may have been obvious clues that you ignored or omens that were so subtle they were easy to dismiss as imaginings of the mind rather than the voice of your instinct. There are many anecdotes about animals, operating purely on instinct, picking up in clues and naturally seeking higher grounds before an approaching tsunami reaches the land. To negotiate this wake-up call, listen closely to your instincts, while at the same time seeking the higher ground of spiritual truth.

13 ~ Lake -Stillness

The tempo of life these days has sped up considerably, and there seems to be no end to this quickening pace. Immersed as we are in the technological whirlpool, there seems no escape. However, there is no need to be a prisoner to the “hurry up” syndrome, nor is there a need to feel trapped by the awareness of the collective intensities that massive numbers of humans are experiencing these days. No matter if the noise is from your environment or your seemingly nonstop thinking, it is critical for you to seek stillness. Find it in your world, whether it is a special place in your home or a place in Nature that is far from human made noise. Of particular importance is finding it inside yourself, which can be made easier by being in a quiet place in a natural setting. Doing so not only relaxes your mind, but also heightens your awareness and senses.

14 ~ Dreamtime ~Creation~

Close your eyes, tune in to your breathing, and allow yourself to sink deeply into  the heart of the living creation that you are. As you notice your breath becoming steady and slightly deeper than usual, observe the urge within  you that is begging to come forth in some creative action. Pay attention to any images, sounds, or feelings that beckon your awareness; and there you will find the key as to the manner in which to express this magnificent pulse.

Your breath is the crossover between Spirit and physical reality. Breathing comfortably and steadily helps you align yourself with Spirit, which then brings a clearer focus on what creative expression is preparing to be birthed through and from you. Discard any habitual thought patterns that would prevent the manifestation of what you are being prompted to bring forth. Allow yourself to take risks with this self-expression, and all of Creation will smile upon you.

15 ~ Spring Equinox ~ Rebirth

You thought this passage you have been through would never end. Just as certain that the light of the world fades every few months, it makes its return, and the Earth rejoices. The fresh breath of spring sweeps away cobwebs acquired from the absence of light. The light is now obviously increasing as Nature begins to emerge in all her many forms, shapes, and colors that remind us of the continual cycles of Earth Mother. This cycle of rebirth you are experiencing follows a considerably challenging time. Any tears you may have shed have cleared the way for what has been gestating, which is now ripe and ready to emerge. That which no longer serves you needs to be out to rest so that a freshness and newness of spirit can make itself known to you. Sometimes birth can be painful, particularly in that passage just before delivery, yet what emerges can be fresh and beautiful. Be with the emergence of this next cycle with faith and grace.

F ~ Tree Frog

There’s no need to rush. Your timing will be perfect. The song of your spirit will tell you when to leap!

A ~ Albatross

It takes courage to set on a journey of any kind. Albatross knows that sometimes when we start a new adventure, it doesn’t always happen exactly as we planned. If we are learning something new or reaching for a dream, it can be pretty tricky to reach where we are going! Sometimes it feels like we are out in the middle of the ocean and we don’t know when we will see land again! Albatross comes to say trust yourself and the secret wings that guide you. There is no need to flap your wings and fight against the storm. You were designed for greatness. Open your wings. Reach for the stars… and enjoy the journey along the way.

G ~ Gorilla

~Reflection~Respect~Inner Calm~

Amidst the fast pace and busy-ness of life, Gorilla invites you to take a deep breath and take some time to think about the things you really love in life. If there are challenges around you, there is no need to get upset by then. Gorilla takes the calm approach. Before you swing into action, take some time to feel in your body what will make you the most happy. Respect the wisdom of your “elders” and ask them for help if you are not sure what to do.
